Find Your Cards
I designed the concept and user experience for a mobile app that allows players of Magic: The Gathering to exchange and trade single collectible cards based on their location. The goal was to create a fun, intuitive, and community-driven experience inspired by swipe-based interactions, as a “Tinder for Magic cards.” Users can view available cards nearby, mark their interests, and get matched with other players for trades.

Overview
BACKGROUND
Find Your Cards is a mobile concept app designed for Magic: The Gathering players who want to trade single collectible cards locally. Inspired by swipe-based social interactions (think “Tinder for Magic cards”), the app creates a fun and intuitive trading experience that brings players together based on proximity and card preferences.
MY ROLE
I was responsible for the entire UX and UI design of the app, from concept to interface. My focus was to:
-
Design the user flow for searching, filtering, and matching cards
-
Create a consistent visual language and design system with accessibility in mind
-
Develop community features like decklists, likes, and seller profiles
-
Prototype a fully functional mobile experience, balancing e-commerce and social interaction

Visual Identity & UI Highlights
The interface uses warm yellows and earthy browns, evoking fantasy/adventure themes aligned with Magic’s aesthetic.
The tone is playful but focused, with strong contrast, rounded cards, and interactive elements built for small screens.
Typography and color tokens were designed with WCAG compliance in mind, ensuring legibility and inclusion.

What I Learned
This project strengthened my ability to design for niche, community-driven audiences by combining usability with playfulness. I learned how to build a complete design system from scratch, including a custom icon set, color tokens, and typography scale, while ensuring accessibility and visual consistency. It also taught me how to blend social interaction with e-commerce logic in a mobile experience, designing features that feel both functional and fun. Most importantly, it reinforced the value of user-centered thinking, even in gamified environments, where clarity and engagement must go hand in hand.
